Phenix City, Alabama, has the honor of hosting the 2018 Cal Ripken Major/60 World Series. The games will be played at the Idle Hour Sports Complex, August 2-9.
The Phenix City Youth Babe Ruth League is dedicated to a FUN FIRST environment where children can learn teamwork through the game of baseball. Their goal is to firmly implant in the children of their community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honestly, loyalty, courage and respect of authority, so they grow to be good, decent, healthy and trustworthy citizens.
Phenix City is a growing community located in the county seat of Russell County in East Alabama along the west bank of the Chattahoochee River. It is a wonderful place to grow a business and raise a family as backed by Bloomberg’s BusinessWeek article granting Phenix City as the “Nation’s #1 Affordable Suburb to Raise a Family.”
From landmarks, museums, and outdoor adventure…there is a ton of family fun waiting for World Series participants, their families and fans while in Phenix City. Kids will have a fun time at the Coca-Cola Space Science Center in nearly Columbus, Georgia, that innovatively combines education and entertainment to promote science exploration and discovery. Visitors will enjoy whitewater rafting on the Chattahoochee River, the longest urban whitewater rafting in the world. Play golf at Whitewater Express, one of the Southeast’s best designed courses as it meanders along the banks of the Chattahoochee. Enjoy hiking, fishing, swimming and biking at a nearby state park. Everyone is sure to enjoy the family atmosphere and some good home cooking at one of Phenix City’s unique eateries.
Phenix City is the place to be this August. Come enjoy the competition, the hometown hospitality, and the many “extras” planned for visitors to experience the wonderful opportunities the city has to offer.
