ROBERT FAHERTY NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT/COMMISSIONER

Robert Faherty began his career with Babe Ruth League, Inc. in 1988 as Commissioner. At BRL, Faherty governs adherence to the Official Rules of Baseball, while promoting local league autonomy and advocating for the development of young players. He supervises play throughout the program’s regions, which culminates with World Series Championships. In addition, he oversees league retention and recruitment, as well as the ongoing education of league officials.

This promotion reflects Robert’s legacy work in the field, as well as his engagement of our volunteer ‘chain of command’ at every level,” said Steven Tellefsen, President and CEO of Babe Ruth League, Inc. “He is a fine ambassador for youth baseball. His care and energy are evident, whether he is bringing teams together to recite our Sportsmanship Code or bringing officials together to grow the game. He has been an accessible point of contact for the many league officials and umpires who spend countless volunteer hours ensuring a positive experience for the players in their communities.”

Faherty also represents Babe Ruth Baseball in its interactions with Major League Baseball, the Hot Stove League, the American Baseball Coaches Association, the National Alliance for Youth Sports, the National Association of Sports Commissions, and the Sports Entertainment Travel Association.
“While Robert has been responsible for bringing more than 150 Babe Ruth World Series to fruition, including new levels of competition, his primary focus has always been to serve the mission of our organization by keeping us true to the Official Rules of Baseball,” Tellefsen added.

Faherty graduated from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Science degree and was inducted into its Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006 for his achievements on the gridiron. He served on the Board of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. Having been honored as an NFF Scholar-Athlete in high school, he remains a long-time supporter of this program.

Faherty said, “I have watched players, families and entire communities come together as one on the baseball diamond. I am proud to work under the leadership of Steven Tellefsen and the committed members of our volunteer Board of Directors. My enhanced position will allow me to focus on the integrity of the game, as well as its future on the national and international scenes.”

Faherty resides in Lambertville, NJ, with his wife, Nancy. They have two adult children, Marly and Jack. New to the family is a rescue dog named Roscoe.

Over the past 15 years, Connor has worked very closely with the Babe Ruth League national headquarters staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers to promote the growth of Babe Ruth League and has earned the respect of the youth sports industry.

Connor has played a notable role in the creation and implementation of Babe Ruth League’s S.A.F.E. Program (Safe Awareness For Everyone). As part of his new role as Vice President of Operations, Connor will oversee the new Babe Ruth League DH Program (Designated Helper), Babe Ruth Authentics Program, Babe Ruth Network and all of the organization’s partner sponsor relationships and activations. “This promotion reflects the outstanding job Rob does for the program,” said Steven Tellefsen, President/CEO for Babe Ruth League, Inc. “His passion for Babe Ruth League has not only resulted in growth of leagues and teams, but also in the development of many additional resources and technological advances for our Commissioners and leagues. His increased range of responsibilities and innovative vision will continue to enhance the strategic direction and growth of the Babe Ruth League program.”

Connor is looking forward to the challenges of his new role. “Babe Ruth League is the program where the player comes first,” said Connor. “With the youth being our #1 priority, our goal is to offer the best customer service to our leagues and volunteers. We are here to serve, help and make sure that everybody reaps the many benefits that come from participating in the Babe Ruth program.”.
