Over the past 15 years, Connor has worked very closely with the Babe Ruth League national headquarters staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers to promote the growth of Babe Ruth League and has earned the respect of the youth sports industry.
Connor has played a notable role in the creation and implementation of Babe Ruth League’s S.A.F.E. Program (Safe Awareness For Everyone). With the passage of the Federal Safe Sports Act, Connor worked with the team at headquarters to review its Background Check and Abuse Prevention Training measures for volunteers. Babe Ruth League created the highest standard in screening for volunteers in 2019, and in 2020, was recognized by the National Council Youth Sports with its “STRIVE AWARD”. This award recognizes organizations implementing promising practices and policies to protect young athletes.
As part of his new role as Vice President of Operations, Connor will oversee the new Babe Ruth League DH Program (Designated Helper), Babe Ruth Authentics Program, Babe Ruth Network and all of the organization’s partner sponsor relationships and activations. While currently taking a very active role in World Series planning and activation, Connor will assume expanded responsibilities over all World Series events starting with the first pitch of the 2023 season.
“This promotion reflects the outstanding job Rob does for the program,” said Steven Tellefsen, President/CEO for Babe Ruth League, Inc. “His passion for Babe Ruth League has not only resulted in growth of leagues and teams, but also in the development of many additional resources and technological advances for our Commissioners and leagues. His increased range of responsibilities and innovative vision will continue to enhance the strategic direction and growth of the Babe Ruth League program.”
Connor is looking forward to the challenges of his new role. “Babe Ruth League is the program where the player comes first,” said Connor. “With the youth being our #1 priority, our goal is to offer the best customer service to our leagues and volunteers. We are here to serve, help and make sure that everybody reaps the many benefits that come from participating in the Babe Ruth program.”.
Connor is a resident of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and attended Pennsylvania State University. Before beginning his employment with Babe Ruth League, Connor volunteered as League President for the Cherry Hill Youth Athletic Association Babe Ruth League and served as Host President for the 2005 Babe Ruth Softball 12U World Series. As a result of his excellent work as a volunteer, he was awarded the 2005 Babe Ruth Softball Volunteer of the Year Award.
