Cal Ripken, Jr. and Babe Ruth league, Inc. have always shared a common vision to provide every youngster the opportunity to play baseball, learn life lessons and have fun. The relationship was solidified in July 1999 when Babe Ruth League, Inc. officially renamed its youth division for children 12 years of age and under to Cal Ripken Baseball.
Returning in its 16th year, the 2015 Cal Ripken World/70 Series is proud to announce that it will be hosting the best 12-year-old baseball players in the world from July 24 – August 1.
Each year, the Cal Ripken Major/70 World Series is played at Ripken Stadium in Cal Ripken, Jr’s hometown of Aberdeen, Maryland. This year, they are welcoming back ten teams from across the United States, which include eight Babe Ruth League Regional Champions, the Maryland State Champion and a host team from Harford County; along with eight top teams from around the globe to crown the 2015 World Champion. The 2015 international bracket will consist of Australia, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Korea, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, and Puerto Rico.
Babe Ruth League President/CEO Steven Tellefsen commented, “Babe Ruth League takes great pride in its relationship with Ripken Baseball. We are honored to join Ripken Baseball in welcoming our new teammate, MLB.com, who will be streaming the International and USA Championship series on Friday, July 31, 2015, and the Championship game on Saturday, August 1. Games will begin at 5:30 p.m. (EST) on Friday. The Championship game between the USA Champion and International Champion will be played on Saturday, beginning at 8:00 p.m. (EST).
Babe Ruth League and Ripken Baseball are working together to have all future championship games at the Cal Ripken Major/70 World Series televised live. Unfortunately, the details could not be worked out for 2015.
