Overview
In 2017, Clemmons, North Carolina will have the honor of hosting the Cal Ripken Major/60 World Series.
The World Series games will be played at the Southwest Athletics Complex. Southwest has been a premier location for youths of Forsyth County to play baseball and softball since 1963. Baseball and Softball are played at Southwest ten months out of every year; many of our fields are AstroTurf which allows ball to be played from February to November. Each year we average 900+ players in the Southwest organization. Southwest has been the host site for District, State, and Regional Level All-Star Tournaments in previous years. Southwest regularly hosts baseball and softball tournaments typically consisting of twenty+ teams. Over 200,000 visitors come to Southwest each year. Southwest have over fifty loyal sponsors and over 200 volunteers.
Clemmons is a small town in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina. Clemmons has a wide variety of dining options for visitors from local establishments like Mossy’s, Brick Oven, or Pete’s, to national chains like Applebee’s, Cracker Barrel, or Ruby Tuesday’s. Clemmons and neighboring Winston-Salem offer many entertaining options for visitors as well. The Winston Salem Dash minor league team is located just ten minutes from Clemmons. There is also miniature golf, bowling, movie theaters, and museums in Winston Salem. Clemmons is home to Tanglewood Park. Activities available at the Park include a swimming pool, horseback riding, two 18-hole golf courses, a par-3 golf course, playgrounds, hiking trails and much more!
